Here is Oliver.....

Oliver is currently in foster with John in Chertsey, Surrey,.

He came into rescue as the previous owner said he was not housetrained but since being with John, has not had an accident indoors at all.

Oliver has a marvellous temperment with people and children but very boisterous, so best suited to a home with children over 14.

A definite NO to cats and birds.

Oliver is very strong on the lead and also not keen on dogs who are on lead, so will need further training in this respect. He has lived with a dog in the past.

He loves the water.

Popped over to John's yesterday and took Oliver out for a change of scenery. He is very strong on the lead but with a head collar, it was much better walking him.

He really does love the water - maybe coming from Egypt, water was scarce - so makes a beeline for the river. He was excited at first but once out on the Meads, became quite chilled and kept stopping for a cuddle.

Oliver is a loving boy. Very friendly with people but too boisterous to be around children under 14. Little bit wary of dogs on first meeting and ideally needs someone with GS experience to teach him some manners when out and about.

He would be your friend for life.

Oliver..... I love him to bits, he is a real character and so affectionate
BUT
He is a big strong lad and very playful and could easily knock over small kids
He would be absolutely perfect in a family with a couple of active teenagers
To play football and other games to use up his almost endless energy

Took Oliver out on Sunday, to use up some of his energy, which he has bundles of!

He is very alert when out and interested in all what's going on. Listens intently to the sound of birds....he dislikes birds.....and, as usual, made a beeline for the river!

He sems anxious when seeing dogs he doesn't know and gets quite vocal but this could be worked on with an experienced shep owner.

All in all, a very loving boy. Loves playing with a ball; loves the water and would love a home of his own.

Took Oliver out yesterday and, as usual, he was full of energy!

He was very strong on the lead initially, and not keen on two small dogs he met head on, but soon calmed down and enjoyed a romp in the river and a nice long walk.

Takes treats very nicely too.

Needs an experienced shep owner as does want to do his "own thing" but all in all, a very loving boy.

We went over to John's on Sunday to take Oliver out, to use up some of his boundless energy!

He was so excited and let me put his head collar on with no problem. Once out, however, he did all he could to get it off!

It was very quiet on the Meads, with no dogs to distract him. He does get anxious on seeing a dog. Something to be worked on.

Once again, his favourite aim is gettng to the river. He absoloutely LOVES water. Seems to calm him down.

When out, he is very observant. Watches all that is going on. People on bikes passed, no problem. Children playing nearby, no problem. Dogs on leads, however, yes, he gets very excited and vocal. Cats, he will chase as I found out. On the way back to John's, a white cat shot out from the grass verge. Oliver immediately wanted to give chase ....

I really like this boy and he is good when being handled.

Sure, he has a few little issues but these could be overcome with time. He'd make a fantastic, loving boy.

I absolutely adore Oliver
He is so playful and affectionate
He's a real character
But he just has way too much energy
(Plus we already have Molly & Buddy)

The vigil club members need to make more effort to find his forever home
I think they make far less effort for oliver because he is already being well cared for
So they leave Oliver where he is and co concentrate on dogs in kennels

I do love him and really do wish we were able to have him

A little training session was organised for Oliver on Friday at John's place, with Norman Dog Trainer and myself. Got to say, Oliver did really well and I was very proud of him.

He get very anxious when seeing dogs - maybe something has happened in the past which he cannot tell us - and so to have not one but 3 strange dogs coming on to his area, must have been very daunting for him.

I love this boy! Image

He is so super friendly with people, has bags of energy which would suit an energetic household (no small children) but just has a little issue when seeing dogs. We are actively working on this, which would need to be continued in a new home.

He is very handsome, loving, takes treats nicely and so deserves a home to call his own.

Oliver joined the BIGGSD walk at Chertsey last Sunday and what a good boy he was!

Mixed in with all the other dogs - 13 or so - and had a thoroughly good time.

Having a rest back at John''s

Not for long though.......

Could live with a calm, steady bitch not necessarily a shepherd.
