This week’s walk is at: Chertsey Meads.
It does seem to have its own weather system here so please come prepared for 'anything :!:

Meet at 10.30am for an 11.00am start :!:

Directions are:
Nearest postcode is KT16 8LS
Its not the 1st car park, which is for the marina, but the 2nd car park further on over the common and bear left when you see the 2 dead end signs

Dogs MUST be kept either in cars or walked AWAY from the car park until the start of the walk. (The only exception to this, is when the weather is really hot, then you must stay with your dog, to insure it's wellbeing)

This place also has a smallish car park, and it can get fairly busy at times. And it doesn't help our cause to have the dogs barking and bouncing about on the leads. It is up to us to make sure that our dogs are not seen in a bad light and to have a large amount of dogs in the car park barking at people and their dogs as they go past is not acceptable & it's not fair on the rest of us who spend a great deal of time and effort trying to improve how the public looks at dogs like ours.

Please be aware that other dog walkers or even the odd horse are often seen at the Meads. We do ask if owners can put dogs on lead or make them sit to the side when horses or people walking with or without dogs are on the same path to let them pass. Please keep this up, we have been congratulated on previous walks for stopping and allowing members of the public to pass with their dogs or horses etc so it is important we carry on doing this not just because it's polite and something that should be done but because we 'are' responsible GSD (& others) owners

And don't forget a loud shout of Horses, Dog Walkers or Cyclists will alert the rest of the group, as to what is ahead, and take the appropriate action

All dogs and owners welcome as usual, but we would ask that all owners please be responsible for your own dog. BIGGSD will not tolerate, be held accountable or responsible for any accident, fight or unwarranted behaviour towards a member of the group or member of the public. We welcome new members and dogs and positively urge them to come on the walks for their and their dogs’ benefit but we do expect owners to keep their dogs in check. We all come on the walks to socialize the dogs & have a natter with likeminded people and have a good walk, but if you think your dog maybe aggressive to other dogs or you don't know how your dog will react to other dogs we do ask that you muzzle it for your dogs and others safety. If your dog is unpredictable, we ask that you either keep it on a lead or a long line. Please be courteous and respect others by keeping an eye on your dog and being aware of what it's doing, we do not want to stop people or dogs coming on the walk but we will be left with no choice if a dog is a constant problem. If a member’s dog is being too problematic (for one reason or another), you will be approached by a walk member who will politely request that you either put your dog back on a leash &/or muzzle for a period of time.
This is not intended to offend anyone, it is a request to restrain your dog from getting too carried away, making a nuisance of itself &/or it being too aggressive. If you are unsure how your dog will react on the walk, then the dog must be kept either on a lead or a long line.
If the owner is not in close proximity (for one reason or another) another walk member may place your dog on a lead until it is reunited with its owner & the reason why will be explained.

Please make sure your dog is wearing a suitable dog tag before the walk, by law this MUST have the owners address and telephone numbers on and preferably that the dog is chipped and neutered.

If the walk has to be cancelled for some reason it will be posted on here at least 2 hours before the walk. It won't be cancelled if it is just raining
So please check here before you set off.

We had a lovely walk around Chertsey this morning.
It was a bit cloudy with the sun showing up occasionally.
Welcome back Nicky and Honey, whom we haven't seen since before lockdown.
As is the norm at Chertsey, there was plenty of wet dogs.
Even Max went in for a dip 💦
The now not so little Rufus, made a new friend in Meeko.
The pair had quite a few chase's back and forth.
Just to upset all who didn't come on the walk.
Cath made an enormous, delicious chocolate cake.
A couple of slices and coffees later 🤤
What better way to finish a walk.
The dogs had their biscuits and water, though Cher did her best to nick some cake.
We'll see you all next week at Elstead when we will do it all again.
Paul says he's bringing his barbecue!!
Can't wait 👍🏻

So we've gone from t-shirts and shorts (and a lot of sweaty faces) weather to warm jackets and boots weather! Image It can only happen in the good old UK!

Still, whatever the weather, the dogs just love their Chertsey walk......see photos.

This is a good start - who needs the river with all the pools of water in the car park!

Image

Meet up and saying how cold it is!!!

Image

Lets get going and warm up.....

Image

Go Jacob Go!!!

Image

Morning, Sue and Eric. Listening for Maggie's cries of woe Eric? No, I didn't think so....

Image

Image

Here's the not so little Rufus!

Image

Image

Image

Here we go guys, who can make the biggest splash!

Image

Image

Max - getting wet this week too!

Image

Image

Image

Hmmm interesting thinks Ghost. ....Image Sorry mate, you're too late, Honey has finished her season!

Image

Image

Can't keep the boy away......

Image

Image

Wow, that's a bit of a drop to this part of the river....Image

Image

Charlie's in....

Image

No..No...Don't go in Rufus....

Image

Oh Oh...too late!

Image

Strewth, that was a bit of a shock to the system!

Image

Everyone heading back for a hot cuppa and slice of cake...

Image

Now this is what you call a Chocolate Cake!!! Image

Image

Awww, the chair looks lonely without Maggie! But Eric is tucking in regardless!

Image

The dogs definitely had a great time but some of the intrepid walkers were missing from this week's walk. Maggie is still recovering from her eye op and taking the Dr's orders for once ...and resting. Physically that is but sure the mouth muscles are still in good working order - Eric is testamount to that....Image

Poor Freddie had a tumble during the week and injured his leg...Image We all hope you are resting too, Freddie, and hope it's nothing serious

And Milo is still recovering from his injury a couple of weeks ago and taking things steady for a while. Get better soon Milo!

So that's it for this weeks folks. I am sure everyone went home on a high after noshing a slice or two of that moorish chocolate cake. Wonder what Cath and Paul's Cafe are going to rustle up next week?

Have a good week everyone and we'll do it all again at Elstead next Sunday.

KYSA - trying to be guided from above by Major, Dexter and Alfie.....but he's not for listening!
