This week’s walk is at: Ockham Common, also known locally as Wisley Lake/Bolder Mere.

Meet at 10.30 for 11am start :!:

Directions are:
Nearest Postcode is KT11 1ND
From the A3 follow signs to Effingham.
From Junction 10 of the M25 turn off to Guildford and follow signs to Effingham.
The car park is the first on the left - Please drive slowly or you will miss it!!
From the Effingham Junction follow Old Lane right through to the car parks.
The car park from Effingham is the 3rd on the right just before you join the A3 go slow or you will miss it!

Don't forget the hot and cold food and drinks that can be bought at the cafe, so you don't have to miss your breakfast! There are also toilets for those that need them.

Dogs MUST be kept either in cars or walked AWAY from the car park until the start of the walk. (The only exception to this, is when the weather is really hot, then you must stay with your dog, to insure it's wellbeing)

It's a fairly busy place and it doesn't help our cause to have the dogs barking and bouncing about on the leads. It is up to us to make sure that our dogs are not seen in a bad light and to have a large amount of dogs in the car park barking at people and their dogs as they go past is not acceptable & it's not fair on the rest of us who spend a great deal of time and effort trying to improve how the public looks at dogs like ours.

And don't forget a loud shout of Horses, Dog Walkers or Cyclists will alert the rest of the group, as to what is ahead, and take the appropriate action

All dogs and owners welcome as usual, but we would ask that all owners please be responsible for your own dog. BIGGSD will not tolerate, be held accountable or responsible for any accident, fight or unwarranted behaviour towards a member of the group or member of the public. We welcome new members and dogs and positively urge them to come on the walks for their and their dogs benefit but we do expect owners to keep their dogs in check. We all come on the walks to socialize the dogs & have a natter with like-minded people and have a good walk, but if you think your dog maybe aggressive to other dogs or you don't know how your dog will react to other dogs we do ask that you muzzle it for your dogs and others safety. If your dog is unpredictable, we ask that you either keep it on a lead or a long line. Please be courteous and respect others by keeping an eye on your dog and being aware of what it's doing, we do not want to stop people or dogs coming on the walk but we will be left with no choice if a dog is a constant problem. If a member’s dog is being too problematic (for one reason or another), you will be approached by one of the walkers, who will politely request that you either put your dog back on a leash &/or muzzle for a period of time.

This is not intended to offend anyone, it is a request to restrain your dog from getting too carried away, making a nuisance of itself &/or it being too aggressive. If you are unsure how your dog will react on the walk, then the dog must be kept either on a lead or a long line.
If the owner is not in close proximity (for one reason or another) another walker may place your dog on a lead until it is reunited with its owner & the reason why will be explained.

Please make sure your dog is wearing a suitable dog tag before the walk, by law this MUST have the owners address and telephone numbers on and preferably that the dog is chipped and neutered.

If the walk has to be cancelled for some reason it will be posted on here at least 2 hours before the walk. It won't be cancelled if it is just raining! So please check here before you set off. :D :)

Hi everyone.
We had a lovely walk around Ockham this morning.
The sun was shining, but it wasn't to hot.
The one down side was a problem finding a parking spot.
Some even had to go down to the over flow carpark a hundred yards down the road.
Luckily for me Paul moved his van almost into the trees, which gave me enough room to squeeze in behind him 👍🏻
The actual walk went well, though some of the dogs probably weren't to happy at the lack of puddles 🐾💦
We had 17 dogs on the walk plus another 4 who met us in the carpark.
We had some bad news this morning.
John sadly lost Buster during the week.
Our condolences from all of us.
Many of us have been there as well. The longer we have them the more we expect them to stay with us.

Next week's walk should be at Epsom.
But it appears the top carpark which we use is still closed.
So on that basis we'll be at Chertsey.
But do check the site later in the week to make sure!!

We'll see you all next Sunday. Mick

It was sheps everywhere and what a great day they had, even minus a puddle!

On a sad note, very sorry to hear about the passing of Buster. He was a lovely boy and 14 was a great age. Sending John a big hug from all at BIGGSD as I am sure you are missing your buddy very much. Image

OK folks, that's it for now so have a good week everyone and we'll do it all again next Sunday. Either Epsom or Chertsey. Maybe the top car park at Epsom was closed due to the virtual Derby held last weekend. It was full of TV vans but hopefully, the car park will be open next week. Image
