A firm favourite for lots of us! It has open spaces of common land, forest walks and mossy streams for the dogs to paddle in. Its also quite hilly, so may not be good for those with breathing probs.

Meet at 10.30 for an 11am start :!:

Directions are
Nearest post code is GU8 6LW (for approx. guidance only

If you are coming from Farnham/Frensham side, the bend is before the usual car park & the road/lane is on the left, go down the lane past October Farm which is on your right, take the first lane on your left and the car park is on the left.

Dogs MUST be kept either in cars or walked AWAY from the car park until the start of the walk. (The only exception to this, is when the weather is really hot, then you must stay with your dog, to insure it's wellbeing)

This is one of the smallest car parks on our walks, and it's a fairly busy place and it doesn't help our cause to have the dogs barking and bouncing about on the leads. It is up to us to make sure that our dogs are not seen in a bad light and to have a large amount of dogs in the car park barking at people and their dogs as they go past is not acceptable & it's not fair on the rest of us who spend a great deal of time and effort trying to improve how the public looks at dogs like ours.

Please be aware there maybe horses in the car park or seen on the walk. We do ask if owners can put dogs on lead or make them sit to the side when horses or people walking with or without dogs are on the same path to let them pass. Please keep this up, we have been congratulated on previous walks for stopping and allowing members of the public to pass with their dogs or horses etc so it is important we carry on doing this not just because it's polite and something that should be done but because we 'are' responsible GSD (& others) owners!

And don't forget a loud shout of Horses, Dog Walkers or Cyclists will alert the rest of the group, as to what is ahead, and take the appropriate action
All dogs and owners welcome as usual, but we would ask that all owners please be responsible for your own dog.
BIGGSD
will not tolerate, be held accountable or responsible for any accident, fight or unwarranted behaviour towards a member of the group or member of the public. We welcome new members and dogs and positively urge them to come on the walks for their and their dogsโ€™ benefit but we do expect owners to keep their dogs in check. We all come on the walks to socialize the dogs & have a natter with likeminded people and have a good walk, but if you think your dog maybe aggressive to other dogs or you don't know how your dog will react to other dogs we do ask that you muzzle it for your dogs and others safety. If your dog is unpredictable, we ask that you either keep it on a lead or a long line. Please be courteous and respect others by keeping an eye on your dog and being aware of what it's doing, we do not want to stop people or dogs coming on the walk but we will be left with no choice if a dog is a constant problem. If a memberโ€™s dog is being too problematic (for one reason or another), you will be approached by a walk member who will politely request that you either put your dog back on a leash &/or muzzle for a period of time.
This is not intended to offend anyone, it is a request to restrain your dog from getting too carried away, making a nuisance of itself &/or it being too aggressive. If you are unsure how your dog will react on the walk, then the dog must be kept either on a lead or a long line.
If the owner is not in close proximity (for one reason or another) another walk member may place your dog on a lead until it is reunited with its owner & the reason why will be explained.
Please make sure your dog is wearing a suitable dog tag before the walk, by law this MUST have the owners address and telephone numbers on and preferably that the dog is chipped and neutered.
If the walk has to be cancelled for some reason it will be posted on here at least 2 hours before the walk. It won't be cancelled if it is just raining!
So please check here before you set off. :D

Hi everyone.
We still held the walk this morning.
There were 10 people and 9 dogs.
Although we were walking together, we had reasonable distances between us.
Although the dogs didn't feel they had to social distance.
There were numerous other people out walking. Some with dogs, others without.
I guess the benefits of being out in the fresh air, outweighs the slight risk.
As it stands at the moment, unless there is a lockdown we will continue the weekly walks.
We understand some may feel they don't want to put themselves at risk.
So for those whom wish to stay away the duration of the crisis, we hope to see when it's over.
As it stands at the moment, next week's walk at Ockham is still on.
Though do check site on Sunday morning just in case.
As circumstances can change at any time.
Stay safe everyone. Mick

With the sun shining and dogs looking happy and bursting with energy, it is hard to believe how chaotic a situation the UK and rest of the world is at present due to the rapid spread of COVID-19.

Understandably, some people were missing from yesterday's BIGGSD walk and those who did attend, kept within the 2 metres safety margin.

Here are some photos of the dogs (and humans) having a lovely walk at Elstead.

It was debated whether the BIGGSD walk should still be held but now, after the PM's announcement that the UK will be going into lock down, sadly, we will not be holding any more BIGGSD walks until this wretched Corona Virus situation is over.

This could be a matter of months - an unprecedented situation indeed.

As the whole country is in a state of turmoil and panic, thank goodness we have our dogs to keep us sane - well relatively sane that is.

We do not know what's in store for us over the next few weeks or months even, so here's wishing all our BIGGSD friends and family the best of luck with avoiding this awful virus.

Keep safe everyone and the BIGGSD walks, with Cath & Paul's Cafe, will be back on the road in hopefully, the not too distant future.

Hi everyone.
As Christine (nightrunner) has already said.
The biggsd walks have been suspended.
Obviously at the moment we do not know for how long.
Though rest assured when we are allowed to, we will carry on as we used to.
Apart from the fact that it's nice walking with like minded people.
The biggest losers are the dogs. Whom seem to relish the freedom to be themselves without getting into trouble.
In the meantime everyone take care and be safe.
Hopefully we'll see you all soon.
Mick and the team.
