This week’s walk is at: Chertsey Meads.
It does seem to have its own weather system here so please come prepared for 'anything

Meet at 10.30am for an 11.00am start :!:

Directions are:
Nearest postcode is KT16 8LS
Its not the 1st car park, which is for the marina, but the 2nd car park further on over the common and bear left when you see the 2 dead end signs

Dogs MUST be kept either in cars or walked AWAY from the car park until the start of the walk. (The only exception to this, is when the weather is really hot, then you must stay with your dog, to insure it's wellbeing)

This place also has a smallish car park, and it can get fairly busy at times. And it doesn't help our cause to have the dogs barking and bouncing about on the leads. It is up to us to make sure that our dogs are not seen in a bad light and to have a large amount of dogs in the car park barking at people and their dogs as they go past is not acceptable & it's not fair on the rest of us who spend a great deal of time and effort trying to improve how the public looks at dogs like ours.

Please be aware that other dog walkers or even the odd horse are often seen at the Meads. We do ask if owners can put dogs on lead or make them sit to the side when horses or people walking with or without dogs are on the same path to let them pass. Please keep this up, we have been congratulated on previous walks for stopping and allowing members of the public to pass with their dogs or horses etc so it is important we carry on doing this not just because it's polite and something that should be done but because we 'are' responsible GSD (& others) owners

And don't forget a loud shout of Horses, Dog Walkers or Cyclists will alert the rest of the group, as to what is ahead, and take the appropriate action

All dogs and owners welcome as usual, but we would ask that all owners please be responsible for your own dog. BIGGSD will not tolerate, be held accountable or responsible for any accident, fight or unwarranted behaviour towards a member of the group or member of the public. We welcome new members and dogs and positively urge them to come on the walks for their and their dogs’ benefit but we do expect owners to keep their dogs in check. We all come on the walks to socialize the dogs & have a natter with likeminded people and have a good walk, but if you think your dog maybe aggressive to other dogs or you don't know how your dog will react to other dogs we do ask that you muzzle it for your dogs and others safety. If your dog is unpredictable, we ask that you either keep it on a lead or a long line. Please be courteous and respect others by keeping an eye on your dog and being aware of what it's doing, we do not want to stop people or dogs coming on the walk but we will be left with no choice if a dog is a constant problem. If a member’s dog is being too problematic (for one reason or another), you will be approached by a walk member who will politely request that you either put your dog back on a leash &/or muzzle for a period of time.
This is not intended to offend anyone, it is a request to restrain your dog from getting too carried away, making a nuisance of itself &/or it being too aggressive. If you are unsure how your dog will react on the walk, then the dog must be kept either on a lead or a long line.
If the owner is not in close proximity (for one reason or another) another walk member may place your dog on a lead until it is reunited with its owner & the reason why will be explained.

Please make sure your dog is wearing a suitable dog tag before the walk, by law this MUST have the owners address and telephone numbers on and preferably that the dog is chipped and neutered.

If the walk has to be cancelled for some reason it will be posted on here at least 2 hours before the walk. It won't be cancelled if it is just raining
So please check here before you set off.

We'll be there as well 👍🏻
So will the hooligans 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
I'd imagine the Meads will be quite wet.
So it might be a good idea to bring your wellies.
See you all Sunday. Mick

Firstly I must apologise for being late this morning.
Made a fateful error and came up the M23, only to find it closed near Gatwick. The subsequent detour seemed to take ages. Won't make that mistake again!
Now for the important things.
We were joined today by 3 new dogs.
2 puppies called Rocky and Karma. Plus a youngster called Winston. We hope to see you all again.
We also had Freddie on his first proper biggsd walk.
Freddie whom has had several operations over the last year and is finally no longer under vets orders.
It was so good to see him being able to get into the thick of the action.
Also good to see Koda back after 3/4 years, what a handsome lad he's grown into.
It was so good to see Dee and Max again after Dee's resent heart scare.
I managed to count 16 dogs in today's group.
It was a pleasure to watch so many of them charging around chasing each other. Needless to say most of them got very wet as there was a lot of water on the Meads. Not many sheps go round puddles!!
Just to upset those who didn't come on today's walk!!
Not only did we have teas and coffees, but bacon and sausage butties.
A big thanks to Paul and Cath for the refreshments once again.
I guess we'll have to do it all again at Elstead next week.
See you all there. Mick 👍🏻

Well after a gloomy week - and we won't mentiont the V word - at least there was something to look forward to - the BIGGSD walk!!!

Sun shining, waterlogged Meads - what more could a furbie wish for. See photos.

And here we have a little beauty! 4 month old Karma. All say Ahhhhhh...Image Here he is being greeted by Winston, another newbie.

Image

And who is this? Its Freddie!! Wow he certainly looks different from when he last came to say hello.

Image

So nice to see him looking fit and well after a hellish start to life. Image

Image

And here's another puppy - Rocky! Oh my.....Image

Image

Look, find a nice stick and then the humans will throw it for you, instructs Koda.....

Image

No, I'm going for a paddle with mum instead!

Image

Nice to see Sue with her wellies on this week!. All those hippy clogs are just not suitable for the Meads!

Winston having a game of chase.....

Image

While the rest of the gang head for the puddles, or more like mini lakes.....

Image

Image

Whilst Ghost gets friendly with Meeko. He's not Gender phased.....Image

This is how you do it.....

And after a great walk, what more could be better than bacon & sausage butties! Sure Mick was in his element, munching away. Image

Image

So nice to see all the dogs having a great time and good to hear that Dee & Max joined the walk for a short while after Dee's nasty health scare. Take it easy Dee, you'll soon be stepping it out.

Well have a good week everyone and just remember - to keep those germs away, no hugging or kissing is the order of the day! Furbies allowed though....

KYSA - trying to be guided from above by Major, Dexter and Alfie.....but he's not for listening!
