The walk this week is Epsom Race Course :!:

Meet at 10.30 for 11am start :!:

Directions are
Nearest Postcode is KT18 5NY which is the Tattenham Corner Pub. The car park we are meeting at, is at the top of the race course, follow the inner road round the side of the race course and there is ample parking up there.

Don't forget there is a small roadside cafe, that sells hot food & drinks, by the first lower car park.

Dogs MUST be kept either in cars or walked AWAY from the car park until the start of the walk. (The only exception to this, is when the weather is really hot, then you must stay with your dog, to insure it's wellbeing)

It's a fairly busy place and it doesn't help our cause to have the dogs barking and bouncing about on the leads. It is up to us to make sure that our dogs are not seen in a bad light and to have a large amount of dogs in the car park barking at people and their dogs as they go past is not acceptable & it's not fair on the rest of us who spend a great deal of time and effort trying to improve how the public looks at dogs like ours.

And don't forget a loud shout of Horses, Dog Walkers or Cyclists will alert the rest of the group, as to what is ahead, and take the appropriate action

All dogs and owners welcome as usual, but we would ask that all owners please be responsible for your own dog. BIGGSD will not tolerate, be held accountable or responsible for any accident, fight or unwarranted behaviour towards a member of the group or member of the public. We welcome new members and dogs and positively urge them to come on the walks for their and their dogs’ benefit but we do expect owners to keep their dogs in check. We all come on the walks to socialize the dogs & have a natter with likeminded people and have a good walk, but if you think your dog maybe aggressive to other dogs or you don't know how your dog will react to other dogs we do ask that you muzzle it for your dogs and others safety. If your dog is unpredictable, we ask that you either keep it on a lead or a long line. Please be courteous and respect others by keeping an eye on your dog and being aware of what it's doing, we do not want to stop people or dogs coming on the walk but we will be left with no choice if a dog is a constant problem. If a member’s dog is being too problematic (for one reason or another), you will be approached by one of the walkers, who will politely request that you either put your dog back on a leash &/or muzzle for a period of time.

This is not intended to offend anyone, it is a request to restrain your dog from getting too carried away, making a nuisance of itself &/or it being too aggressive. If you are unsure how your dog will react on the walk, then the dog must be kept either on a lead or a long line. If the owner is not in close proximity (for one reason or another) another walker may place your dog on a lead until it is reunited with its owner & the reason why will be explained.

Please make sure your dog is wearing a suitable dog tag before the walk, by law this MUST have the owners address and telephone numbers on and preferably that the dog is chipped and neutered.

If the walk has to be cancelled for some reason it will be posted on here at least 2 hours before the walk. It won't be cancelled if it is just raining. So please check here before you set off.

It's hard to believe after all the rain we've had lately, we had another sunny walk.
It was a bit fresh, but once we got going you didn't seem to notice.
We had a good sized group of 19/20 dogs this morning.
Initially quite a few were a bit vocal, but this subdued once they started running about.
We did have a funny incident. Poor Rocky got chased off by a tiny pomeranian, so much big tough sheps!!
As usual a big thanks to Paul and Cath for the refreshments. Especially Cath's home made coffee walnut cake, delicious 😋
In the carpark Jack the bull terrier came over to say hi, then decided to stay and help eat the treats.
He was a lovely old chap, ever so friendly and wasn't fazed by all the sheps. The poor lad had to have his nose removed due to cancer. It doesn't seem to bother him or stop him enjoying life.
As usual I'll see you all next week at Chertsey.
See you there Mick 👋🏻

Epsom Downs is a firm favourite with the dogs, where they have plenty of space to charge around. Here are some photos, taken on a nippy but sunny morning.......

Thanks for the photos guys - all the dogs looked like they had a great time. After a very wet and horrible week, wasn't it great to see the sun!

That's it for now folks so have a good week everyone and see you at Chertsey next week!
