:GSD: The walk this week is at:..Epsom Race Course!

:snooze: Meet at 10.30 for 11am start! :waiting:

Directions are:
Nearest Postcode is KT18 5NY which is the Tattenham Corner Pub. The car park we are meeting at, is at the top of the race course, follow the inner road round the side of the race course and there is ample parking up there.
Don't forget there is a small roadside cafe, that sells hot food & drinks, by the first lower car park. :yay:

Dogs MUST be kept either in cars or walked AWAY from the car park until the start of the walk. (The only exeption to this, is when the weather is really hot, then you must stay with your dog, to insure it's well being)

It's a fairly busy place and it doesn't help our cause to have the dogs barking and bouncing about on the leads. It is up to us to make sure that our dogs are not seen in a bad light and to have a large amount of dogs in the car park barking at people and their dogs as they go past is not acceptable & it's not fair on the rest of us who spend a great deal of time and effort trying to improve how the public looks at dogs like ours. :newpolice:

And don't forget a loud shout of Horses, Dog Walkers or Cyclists will alert the rest of the group, as to what is ahead, and take the appropriate action

All dogs and owners welcome as usual, but we would ask that all owners please be responsible for your own dog. BIGGSD will not tolerate, be held accountable or responsible for any accident, fight or unwarranted behavior towards a member of the group or member of the public. We welcome new members and dogs and positively urge them to come on the walks for their and their dogs benefit but we do expect owners to keep their dogs in check. We all come on the walks to socialize the dogs & have a natter with like minded people and have a good walk, but if you think your dog maybe aggressive to other dogs or you don't know how your dog will react to other dogs we do ask that you muzzle it for your dogs and others safety. If your dog is unpredictable we ask that you either keep it on a lead or a long line. Please be courteous and respect others by keeping an eye on your dog and being aware of what it's doing, we do not want to stop people or dogs coming on the walk but we will be left with no choice if a dog is a constant problem. If a members dog is being too problematic (for one reason or another), you will be approached by one of the walkers, who will politely request that you either put your dog back on a leash &/or muzzle for a period of time.
This is not intended to offend anyone, it is a request to restrain your dog from getting too carried away, making a nuisance of itself &/or it being too aggressive. If you are unsure how your dog will react on the walk, then the dog must be kept either on a lead or a long line.
If the owner is not in close proximity (for one reason or another) another walker may place your dog on a lead until it is reunited with its owner & the reason why will be explained. :nicked:

Please make sure your dog is wearing a suitable dog tag before the walk, by law this MUST have the owners address and telephone numbers on and preferably that the dog is chipped and neutered.

If the walk has to be cancelled for some reason it will be posted on here at least 2 hours before the walk. It won't be cancelled if it is just raining! :pull hair: So please check here before you set off

What a glorious Sunday.
It was a bit warm for the dogs.
So it was a slow amble, keeping to the shade as much as possible.
Firstly a :BIGGSD_Welcome: to Andy and Mel, plus Poppy aka Kiki. As seen on proud moments.
Not the biggest group today, just 13 dogs.
2 rescues on today's walk, Marley again :embarassed: also Max who's not yet on vigil's site.
He's still being assessed, but thanks to Nick ( always muddy ) had a chance to come out and be a dog.
If this heatwave continues next weeks walk at Chertsey will be a blessing for the dogs :dog swimming:
As usual I'll see you there. Mick

Here are some pictures taken by the tireless duo Mick and Paul on another hot day. At least on the Downs there is nearly always a breeze......

Looking crisp and dry with not a puddle in sight.......

Don't think we'll be praying for rain just yet Christine :exclamation: :exclamation:
It's nice to have a bit of sunshine for a change :mexican wave: With out having to jet off to somewhere exotic, leaving our poor furbies all alone in kennels :dramaqueen:
Err by the way. I think the last big heatwave was in 1976.
So make the most of it :thumbs up:
On that basis 42 years until the next one

Well I AM hoping for a nice steady downpour - during the night, of course - cause me veggie plants look like crisps already, the grass looks like straw, the tiny plums have all dropped off the tree and now baby apples dropping off and the plants are crying out for a nice long drink....

I vaguely remember the last heatwave back in 1976....being only a youngster of course.... :lmao: and a team of Rain Worshipers were brought in from the States to perform a Rain Dance in Hyde Park. It didn't work! I don't think the rain came until late September and by that time, the UK had a full hosepipe ban and we were using our bathwater to water the plants......what a pallava that was......

If the next one is 42 years away, you'll be around the ripe old age of 103 Mick, so don't think you'll be cavorting over the Downs then.....unless in a chariot sent from above!

:OMG: perish the thought.....
