Would like to stay in bed like the other Pat does

If you know of anyone who is moving abroad that has a dog please read on.
Two dogs have died in the last couple of months that I know of .
These dogs were both transported but Skye was transported by Joni Fitz.
All the food given him for the dog was untouched.
The dog was missing 3 days before they were told.
Sky was found dead at the side of the road.
As you can imagine they are devastated .
Please if you know anyone who is moving please please please warn them.
Not only the name above but any transporters.
Not sure if it is ok to name and shame please feel free to remove if not.

Pat I get Which? magazine and there was an article recently about dangers of transporting pets, especially flying. A high number die from dehydration, hyperthermia or crushing...or are lost. I would now never consider taking them on a plane unless they could travel in the cabin with me...and that's never going to happen unless I can afford a private jet!

Even on ferrys most have to stay in the car on their own in the hold, some have kennels. The only place they can stay with you is on the Eurotunnel...so if we were going to take them abroad this is the only way we would travel...other than that it's kennels for us.

Thanks for posting about this company/ person, I'm sure there's many more like them!

Oh, those poor dogs! :cryingtissues:

This brings back memories.....when my uncle decided to pack up things and move to Spain, he and his Labrador Jasper, stayed with us for a month whilst things were sorted this end before he flew out.

We had made enquiries with several Pet Transporters but there were not many around at that time, non who we were confident with anyway, so decided to get a crate made up and take Jasper ourselves. We contacted Iberian Airlines and they gave us instructions and prices which we followed, sent off a cheque, then received Jasper's ticket.

Had to fly from Heathrow as Gatwick would not take pets.....had to get Jasper in the crate, then onto a trolley, push him past all the different airline desks until we found Iberian and then stand and wait in the checking-in queue with about 100 people behind us - all eyes on Jasper :embarassed:

Eventually got to the desk and a right miserable Spanish bloke ummmed and ahhhed and said the ticket for Jasper plus crate was not enough, as the crate was over the weight for that price! Luckily I had my credit card on me so had to pay an extra £98 although we had paid £131 previously!!!! :pull hair:

We then went one way and an attendant pushed Jasper another.....as we were sitting on the plane, we saw Jasper sitting in his crate being loaded.....he looked quite relaxed about the whole thing.

Arrived in Alicante on a late Sunday evening, not many airline staff around, went through passport control, waited for the luggage to come out, then we saw Jasper in his crate, going round the little moving carousel thingy in the next bay. He had come out first and may have been going round the circuit for a little while and now decided he'd had enough and wanted to get out! But the one and only Airline guy just standing watching, said we couldn't take him off until an Official arrived!

Another 10 minutes passed..... with Jasper slowly going round and round......and giving a bark every time he passed us....enough was enough...so next time he approached, we both grabbed the crate and got him off and onto a flat trolley and then got out of the airport quick, with this porter guy shouting as we went!

As soon as Jasper was out of the crate, he did the longest wee ever.....gave us all a big lick and didn't seem phased by the journey.

I know things are much different now and Pet Transportation is BIG BUSINESS but as with everything, there are rogues out there who just want to make money, regardless of the fact they are carrying LIVE ANIMALS!

This is not the first guy who has been named and shamed and probably won't be the last! For anyone moving overseas and wishing to take their pet, research the different companies is ESSENTIAL! The cheapest quote may not necessarily be the best.

I think lots of pets are suffering at the hands of these people.
Who are in it for the money and are NOT dog lovers
We must now get the word out.
So Skye did not die in vain

That is the most sensible thing to do go with them.
It is terrible and I have heard of two that died in the last few weeks.

Here is a picture of beautiful Sky :cryingtissues: :cryingtissues:

What a terrible end......

This seems to be a large company with interests in Spain and Ireland. They need to named and shamed and shut down!!!

Sky was only a year old........

For anyone moving to Europe, do not use Joni Fitz Distribution or the other name they go under - GAP Solutions.

Yes that is the lovely Skye :gsd paw:
I was speaking to the owners relation the other day they are heart broken.
I do believe that dog was in the van for 9 days.
All the food given was still in the van in tact.
They cannot do a post mortem they body was to far gone.
So they want to make sure it does not happen again to anyone else
