Thanks to the BIGGSD members who helped me out with my 2nd prototypes for this collar. There were also a few testers off of the board and I have sold a few. I'm very pleased with the results that I have seen and heard about - so I think it's time to start marketing them. Here's the testing thread http://s10.zetaboards.com/biggsd/topic/7338573/2/#new this includes a number of pictures. The Martingale Headcollar is made to measure for every dog, so will not ride up into your dogs eyes or irriatate their noses. Every point that touches your dog is padded with a double layer of fleece to prevent rubbing. Because it leads from the back it will not drag your dogs head around or put pressure on its neck. Because the Martingale function is similar to that of a half-check collar, it will allow you to transition onto that piece of equipment. When your dog pulls, the neck band will tighten and the nose band will move its head downwards, preventing it from putting its weight behind the desire to pull. When there is no pressure on the lead, the headcollar will loosen - teaching your dog to walk nicely. The double layer of supersoft fleece not only pads your dogs muzzle but prevents any rubbing, the two layers rub against each other and not the dogs nose. The wide webbing spreads out any pressure, making this a kind & gentle headcollar. Currently available in four bright cheerful colours of fleece; Turquoise-ish Blue, Green, Orange-ish Yellow & Purple-ish Pink. No more boring black! Other colours may be available on request. To measure your dog; place the end of a tape measure at the back of the dogs neck, bring it forward underneath the dogs jaw, loop over the dogs muzzle, under the other side of the jaw and meet the other end of the tape. This should now form a tight figure of eight around neck and muzzle. The headcollar will be based on this measurement but will not be this tight and is adjustable. Each headcollar comes with a fitting guide and instructions. Suitable for use underneath a basket muzzle or over a fabric one. BIGGSD price £10.99, this includes free postage and a £1 donation to the BIGGSD fund. You can pay by paypal (phoenixdts@aol.com) or pm me and I will give you my address to send a cheque to. |

Yeah no problem John. I'm waiting for some more webbing to come through the post - i ran out this afternoon. I'll sort you out a GSD sized one and one a bit smaller, they have quite a bit of adjustment so should fit a few dogs. |

Yeah it'll be loose enough for him to open his mouth In fact if you increase the adjustment, it'd be big enough for him to carry a stick or small ball. |

got it today thank you. I've tried it on him but have not done a walk yet.I usually use the dogmatic but was interested to try this. I'm not sure how it will be to control him from the back of the head rather than under the chin. Thanks for the speedy delivery. Anne x |

Can I just take this time to say that tanithwheeler is officially MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took Jade out wearing her new martingale headcollar and I still have my arms in thier sockets. What a difference! She walked so nicely I just didn't want to turn round and come home. If anyone is contemplating getting one of these, do try it. If it works for me [and Jade] it will work for you. thankyou x |

I am not sure this headcollar is the right bit of kit for Golumm & I, though I have tried with a few clients dogs and have a lady with a small female Cocker who would like one. So sorry Tan, in the main I remain a Dogmatic fan. Golumm is still not happy for me to put it on him but does let me do so. When he is walking with it I do have greater control over him and I do not have to remind him so much about street walking in a manner I find acceptable. However, he is not comfortable with it; his body is held in pre-grump phase sometimes and like with some areas, if he is not busy engaged with me his mind goes to what he feels he should be doing like scrabbling madly at his face. I am going to try it much looser as the final attempts as it has had an effect on his breathing a couple of times. He is not keen on headcollars fullstop though is happier in a fabric Dogmatic and getting used to his leather one. I think for any dog with a face such a shape, i.e. not much nose, it is far too thick, it is in his vision. Perhaps 1/2 the width with slightly less 'puffy' fleece? |

Glad to hear that it's working well with the clients etc. Send the Cocker lady to my website for instructions on how to measure etc. What I am doing with a couple of trainers who want them for clients, is selling them to the trainers @ a discounted rate, who then sell them on. So let me know if that is something you might be interested in. Given the length of the poor guys nose, it may just not be the right tool for him. You also said that he can be a little neo-phobic with equipment bless him. The ones I am selling at the mo. have a bigger O ring at the bottom to allow the muzzle fit to adjust naturally, rather than relying on owners to make sure that it is loose enough - The prototype I gave you had the old fitting on it. The little deaf bull terrier at my club came in day 1 with a halti - she was up on her back legs scrabbling at her face, howling - jumping around. Popped one on her and she calmed down - like hitting an off-switch. We're bridging a barrier with her at the moment, so really nice to see her calm enough to be responsive. I have looked at thinner webbing but it's more expensive and kinda defeats the object that I was aiming for but is certainly something to bear in mind. |

No, they're not in the shops yet , although I wouldn't be surprised to see Tan on Dragons Den soon  Tan makes them herself from measurements provided by the dogs owner. If you're interested in one, PM Tan and I'm sure she'll let you know the details of what she needs to make one. I believe John (Mr BIGGSD) has a few, I don't know whether you're local to him to try one. |
