Pat who??

Hi Bev, It might just be a case of horses for courses, some dogs liking them and others not. My Emma will chew a Kong for hours as well and yet of the two dogs she was less interested in the antlers when we first tried them. Now she will have a chew almost every day, sometimes for ages, other times just for a few minutes. Thomas, who has never been a chewer, took to them straight away, and like Emma will pick them up as and when he wants to now. I guess the dogs know what they want and need? It might be worth offering one to Elsa that the Goldie has had a pre-chew on so the marrow is more available and see if that makes any difference? The advice Debs put on her website is: These dog chews will last anywhere from one week to one month, depending on how much your dog chews! In the very unlikely event that your dog isn't interested in chewing the Stagbar, try rubbing it with sandpaper or a nail file. If your dog still isn't interested in it, try smearing on a small amount of peanut butter or honey, or soaking it overnight in water in the refrigerator |

They must have liked them Maggie! Only once have my two managed to finish one off in 2 days (between them!), I think it was one of the first ones they had. |

they do, but i also have 3 sheps and 1 malamute in the house so although there were 4 to start with maybe it was a case of your not having mine, there were no after affects either. perhaps i should start giving them food. lol.(joke) everyone. |

George was really funny with his at first. He barked at it jumped away from it and sprang around it, stalked it, finally killed it and chewed on it for ages. Now he's not particularly bothered, even though it only comes out when I decide. I trade up when I take it away, as I'm afraid I may forget and leave it out whilst I'm not watching him. |

Thanks Caz for Debs advice. I have done all the things recommended including putting it in the fridge in water overnight. Elsa looks at me as if I'm going senile every time I offer it to her again. I have now given up and will give it to her golden retriever friend. At least I know that it will be appreciated there. Bev |

One word of warning - about rawhide chews! We stopped buying them after I found an almost entire one in our first deets poo (when picking up). Told the vet who said you are lucky he is still alive! Never touched a rawhide chew since. Given that our first deets was the *only* dog we had who I would never have suspected of swallowing stuff (he chewed everything and was never a greedy dog) and all of our others have been "gulp hounds", the risk is just way to much for me. These sounds brill - especially compared to (what I consider lethal) rawhide chews! Jacqui |

Puredog have got some jumbo Stagbars in at the moment http://www.puredog.co.uk/jumbo-stagbar-antler.php only available while stocks last! They sell these on weight/density, so if you check the link the normal extra large (what we give our two) weigh 225g+ but the jumbo are 350g+. Happy chewing
