Hello to one and all.

Not sure this is the right section as this information does not relate directly to a specific lost dog, but is relevant.

Some of you may already be aware but for those who arn't you will need to know this.

As of the 1st of April 2008 the Metropolitan Police (London & surrounding areas) will no longer take reports of lost dogs or seize / take into Police care, any lost or homeless dog.

If you find yourself in the sad position of loosing your dog and call your local Police station after the 1st of April, then you will be referred to your local Council Dog Warden and Batersea dogs home. A Police report will no longer be taken and Officers will not attened to any dog found roming the street's.
However Police Officers will still attend calls to deal with Dangerous Dogs and take reports of Dog bites, etc.

This may cause further upset to those that have lost their pet but please don't take it out directly on your local officers or those that you may come into contact with. It's not their fault. This is a decision that has been made by the powers that be within the Met Police and the local councils.

I have no idea as to whether other Police Force's will be doing the same thing or not. At this time I can only confirm that this will apply to anyone who live's within the Metropolitan Police Area.

It's now official. The above Policy will now be used by every Police Force within the U.K.

Please be aware you will no longer be able to report a lost dog to any Police Force in England.

If you contact your local Police Station regarding a lost dog they should be able to provide you with contact numbers for your the relevant Dog Warden and kennels that they use, so that you can report directly to them.

Sorry to be the bearer of Bad News..........

No stolen dog's should still be reported to Police but beware alot of questions will be asked to make sure that the dog is actually STOLEN and not just lost.

This is just to stop people from abusing the system as unfortunately with everything in life there will always be one or two people that try it on :(
